Our Journey
How Plus Eatery came to be, and how we picked up our love for coffee.

We started as a group of coffee lovers who lost our jobs during the MCO (Movement Control Order) for COVID-19. Confined to our homes, we bought an espresso machine and began experimenting with beans from all over the world. When the lockdown was lifted, we returned to our regular office jobs, and brewing coffee for colleagues became our daily routine. This sparked a curiosity, what would people outside of our circle think about our coffee?
That curiosity led to our very first pop-up at Angsana Hotel, Teluk Bahang. Business took off, but we quickly learned how seasonal hotel crowds could be. When sales slowed, we turned to Hin Bus Depot, along with catering private celebrations, corporate gigs and George Town Festival pop-ups. After a few years, regulars began to ask if we have a permanent location they could visit anytime. We hoped to have a space that we could share coffee with our friends and customers. This sparked the birth of Plus Eatery.
Why the name
"Plus Eatery"?
The name carries the story of our journey. From a humble pop-up with a small table and brewer, to opening our own space felt like a "Plus" step forward. The idea of "Plus" runs through everything that we do. From what started purely as a coffee has grown into pour-overs, homemade comfort food and handcrafted desserts, always adding even more to what we already have.
"Plus" also reflects the bright, positive and passionate energy of the team behind the bar. Lastly, it also represents the location of our cafe, sitting right on a busy crossroad in Georgetown, much like the plus symbol where two paths meet.
Paired with the word "Eatery" which simply reflects cafe, Plus Eatery represents a lively gathering spot for friends, coffee lovers and our beloved customers.
